ORDINANCE NO. 190 , 1986
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING SECTION 9-15 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY
OF FORT COLLINS RELATING TO CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION LIMITS
WHEREAS, Article XVI, Section 13 of the Charter of the City of Fort
Collins provides that the City of Fort Collins shall act by ordinance to
establish a ceiling limit on the amount that any person or entity may
contribute in support of or in opposition to a candidate for City Council
on the ballot at any City election; and
WHEREAS, the Code of the City of Fort Collins at Chapter 9, Section 15
provides that no person or entity may contribute an amount in excess of
$500 in support of or in opposition to any candidate on the ballot at any
City election; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that Section 9-15 of the Code
of the City of Fort Collins should be amended to reduce the influence of
major contributors upon the selection of any candidate to City Council .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that Section 9-15 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins is
repealed in its entirety and readopted as follows:
§9-15. Limits.
No person or entity may contribute an amount in excess of
Fifty Dollars ($ 50.00 )' in support of or in opposition to
any candidate on the ballot at any city election.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered
published this 18th day of November, A.D. 1986, and to be presented for
final passage on the 4th day of December, A.D. 1986.
