HomeMy WebLinkAbout016 - 06/05/1926 - AMENDING SECTION 28, AND PARAGRAPHS 1, 2, 3 AND 4 OF SECTION 43, OF THE BUILDING CODE (EMERGENCY ORD ORDINANCE NO BEING AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCF AIvIDING SECTION 28, AND PARAGRAPHS 1, 2, 3 AND 4 OF SECTION 43, OF TRH' BUILDING CODE, OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, COLORADO BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE PITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 That Section 28 of the Building Code be amended by adding thereto at the conclusion thereof, the following "Private garages may be erected on the lot line provided the same are back 90 feet from the front property line It Section 2 That Paragraphs 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Section 43 of the Building Code be amended to read as follows 1 All bearing walls shall be of sufficient thickness to support the load to be carried without exceeding the stresses specified in this Code, but in no case shall such walls be less than 9 inches thick, unless built of reinforced concrete 2 The minimmm thickness of all brick bearing walls shall be in accordance with the following schedules and tables In determining the thickness of walls for varying heights, they shall be measured to the nearest tier of beams or support, whether this be a foundation, a beam or a girder 3 Walls for dwelling house class The expression "walls for dwelling house class" shall be taken to mean and include walls for all buildings specified under Classes C and D, as well as all other buildings used for temporary or permanent residence Br ck bearing walls of buildings of the duelling house class, may have minimum thickness of 9 inches, not to exceed 20 feat in height, exclusive of gables, but no wall shall exceed 35 feet in length unless properly braced by cross wells, piers, or buttresses 4 Table indicating minimum thickness of walls in accordance with ahove requirements -1- DWELLING ROUSE CLASS Brick Bearing Walls Stories 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 1 9 2 9 9 3 13 13 9 4 17 13 13 9 5 17 17 13 13 9 6 17 17 17 13 13 9 7 21 17 17 17 13 13 9 8 21 21 17 17 17 13 13 9 Section 3 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for the pr servation of the public health, peace and a fety, and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication under and by virtue of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter Introduced, read at length and adopted by the unanimous vote of all the s44 stiC. members of the City Council this SM day of Nimr, A D 1926 Comfimiasioner of Safe d ExrOff c o Mayor ATTEST City Clerk STATE OF COLORADO) SS COJNTY OF LARIMER) I, A J ROSENOW, City Clerk of the City of Port Collins, do hereby certify and declare that the foregoing ordinance, consisting of three (3) sections, was duly f oposed dNread at length at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 2fth day of , A D 1926, and was duly adopted and order d published in the Port Collins Express-Courier, a daily newspaper and the official newspaper of the City of Fort Collins by the unanimous vote of all members of the Council as an emergency ordinance, in accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Chartsrj and thereafter, on to-wit the � '4 day, of 1926, said Ordinance No 1A was duly published in the Fort Collins Expresa-Courier, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins, Colorado IN WITNESS VMREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the a-al of said City this __$_ day of 9 City Clerk
