It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to carry on the business of buying or selling junk or of conducting a junk shop within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Collins, without first having obtained a license therefor, as provided in this ordinance. Section 2. The term "junk" as used in this ordi- nance shall include all scorn out and discarded materials, rags, old rope, old iron, brass, copper, tin, lead, and other old metals ; discarded machinery, bottles, glass and similar articles. Section 3. By the term "junk shop", as used in this ordinance, is meant any store, shop, dwelling or other building, or any lot, yard or place where junk is bought and sold as a business. Section 4. A junk dealers license shall be issued by the City Clerk, upon application being made, said appli- cation to state the name of the applicant and the place where such business is to be carried on,� upon payment to seid City Clerk of the sum of $100.00 in advance. Such license shall be good and valid for the period of one year from its issu- ance and said license shall not be transferable. Section 5. Every person granted a junk dealers license shall enter into bond to the City of Fort Collins, with good and sufficient surety to be approved by the T,:ayor in the penal sum of V�500.00, conditioned for the due observance of all or- dinances of the City of Fort Collins, as may be passed or i m fort respecting junk shops at any time during the contlHUMM of such license, section 6. No keeper of a junk shop shall receive in the line of his business any article or thing by way of pledge or pawn. Section 7. Every keeper of a junk shop shall pro- vide and keep a book, in which shall be written at the time of each purchase a description of the article so purchased; the name and residence of the person or persons from whom such purchase was made, and the day and hour of such pur— chase. Section 8. The said book shall at all reasonable times be open to the inspection of the Mayor, City Marshal and City Attorney of the City of Fort Collins, or any of them. Section 9. Every junk shop dealer Uho shall receive or be in possession of any goods, articles, or things, which may have been lost or stolen or alleged or supposed to have been lost or stolen, shall forthwith on demand to view the same exhibit the same to the ;Mayor or any Police officer of the City of Fort Collins. Section 10. Any person who shall violate any of the provisionSof this ordinance, shall upon conviction be each fined forAsuch offense, not less than :50.00, nor more than -X 00.00 and costs, and in default of the payment of such fines and costs such person shall be iicprisoned in the City Jail, until such fine and costs are paid, but not to exceed ninety days.
