HomeMy WebLinkAbout022 - 12/16/1907 - RELATING TO FIRES 1 I47 ORDINANCE NO SERIES OF 1907 An Ordinance in Relation to Fires BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 07 FORT COLLINS , COLORADO SECTION I That any person who shall willfully offer any resistance to any police officer of the City of Fort Collins, of fireman in the performance of his duty at a fire, or who shall willfully in any manner injure, deface or destroy any engine or fire apparatus belonging to the City of Fort Collins , and any per- son who shall hinder or refuse to obey the Fire Chief or Assistant Fire Chiefs of the fort Collins Fire Department, or any alderman or police officer or the Mayor at any fire, while acting in the discharge of his duties, shall upon conviction be fined in the sum of not less than ten ( $10) nor more than one hundred ( 1100) dollars SECTION II It ]shall be the duty of the Odtty Marshal or other police officer of the city,and of the Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chiefs at any fire, when in their judgment the same is necessary, to keep all persons who are not firemen, insurance agents, or report- ers, outside of the fire lines to be established by them so that the work of the firemenimay not be impeded Any person disobeying the orders of said police officers, Fire Chief or Assistant Fire Chiefs and entering within said fire lines shall be fined, upon con- viction, not less than ten( w10) nor more than one hundred ( $100) dollars SECTION III It shall be the duty of the police officers of the City of Fort Collins, and the Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chiefs, to preserve order and to protect property from being stolen or wantonly destroyed at fires, and shall prevent volunteers, idle or suspicious persons from interfering with such property Any person disobeying any order made by any police officer or by the Fire Chief or Assistant Fire Chiefs of the Fort Collins Fire Depart- ment at any fire, touching the preservation of property, shall , upon conviction of such act , be fined in the sum of not less than ten ( $10) nor more than one hundred ($100) dollars SECTION IV After the departure of the Fire Department, it shall be the duty of the City Marshal or other qualified police- man, ( in the absence of the owner or agent) to take charge of build- ings damaged by fire, for the purpose of preventing unauthorized persons from entering therein, or removing property, and also to warn the public of any danger which may exist by reason of danger- ous walls Any person interfering with any such police officers while in charge of any property damaged by fire shall, upon convict- ion, be fined not less than ten ( $10) nor more than one hundred ( $100) dollars Passed and adopted, signed and approved this day of X �' 907 l � A T T E S T -� Mayor City Clerk
