HomeMy WebLinkAbout005 - 10/02/1942 - CONCERNING THE PROTECTION OF PROPERTY AT THE FORT COLLINS PUBLIC LIBRARY AND AT THE PIONEER MUSEUM, r ORDINANCE NO 5 1942, BEING AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE PROTECTION OF PROPERTY AT THE FORT COLLINS PUBLIC LIBRARY AND AT THE PION- EER MUSEUM, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 It shall be unlawful for any person to willfully and maliciously or wantonly and without cause write in or upon or injure, deface , tear, destroy, conceal, or steal any book, plate , picture, engraving, map, newspaper, magazine, pamphlet, or manuscript, or any other chattel property belonging to or kept in the Public Library or the Pioneer Museum of the City of Fort Collins Section 2 It shall be unlawful for any person to willfully or maliciously commit any injury upon the Public Library or the Pioneer Museum or upon the grounds, building, or buildings, furniture , fixtures, or other property thereof Section 3 It shall be unlawful for any person to fail to return any book or other public property belonging to the Public Library or any of its branches, according to the requirements of the rules and regulations duly made and adopted by the Board of Directors of the Public Library. Section 4. Any person who shall violate any provi- sion of this Ordinance shall be fined in a sum not in excess of $300.00 for each violation thereof or may be imprisoned until such time as such fine is paid Section 5 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety and this Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage under and by virtue of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter. County of Larimer. ) I, MILES F HOUSE, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby certify and declare that the aforesaid Ordinance, consisting of five ( 5) Sections, was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting of the City Council, held on the 2nd day of October, A D 1942, and was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Express- Courier, a daily newspaper and official newspaper of the City of Fort Collins, by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, as an Emergency Ordinance, in accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter, and thereafter and on to-wit the 6th day of October , A D. 1942, said Ordinance No 5 was duly published in the Fort Collins Express-Courier, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins, Colo- rado IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said City, this 6th day of October , A D 1942 j City Clerk
