HomeMy WebLinkAbout001 - 02/21/1946 - AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 030, 1924, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE BUILDING CODE, PROVIDING RULES AND REG ORDINANCE NO. 1 1946 BEING AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 30, 19249 AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE BUILDING CODE FOR THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, PROVIDING RULES AND REGULATIONS THEREUNDER, PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 That Ordinance No 301 1924, as amended by Section 13 of Ordinance No 17, 1925, and Section 2 of Ordinance No 9, 1937, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto Sections 158d, 158e , 158f and 158g, as follows, to-wit "Section 158d--Examination and Registration of Sheet Metal Workers Any and all sheet metal workers, before engaging in the installation, repairing, remodeling, rebuilding or any other work on or in connection with Air Conditioning, Warm Air Heating, Air Cooling, and Ventilating Systems, shall first pass a satisfactory examination, compiled and given by the Building Inspector or a Board appointed by the City Council, and obtain and keep in effect annually thereafter a permit to engage in said work as herein pro- vided Upon completion of a satisfactory examination the applicant shall be given a registration card stating that he has passed a sat- isfactory examination and granting a permit to the applicant to engage in said business as a master sheet metal worker, or as a journeyman sheet metal worker to work under the supervision of a master sheet metal worker, or as an apprentice sheet metal worker to work under the supervision of a master sheet metal worker, as the case may be, for the current calendar year, subject to revocation or suspension at any time by the Building Inspector or said Board for failure to comply with the provisions of this ordinance No permit shall be granted to a master sheet metal worker unless he has a permanent place of business in a Commercial or Industrial District of the city as defined in the Zoning Ordinance and has first filed with the City Clerk a good and sufficient bond in the penal sum of $1000.00 with a surety company as surety, conditioned that all sheet metal work installed or done by said person or his employees shall be in accordance with requirements of this ordinance Said permit shall be immediately revoked upon failure to retain said permanent place of business or withdrawal or suspension of said bond." "Section 158e--Fee A fee of $25.00 shall be charged for said master sheet metal worker' s examination and $5 00 for journeyman and apprentice sheet metal worker' s examination Said permits may be renewed annually thereafter upon payment of an annual fee of $25 00 for sheet metal workers and $5.00 for journeymen or apprentice sheet metal workers " "Section 158f--Work Prohibited Sheet metal workers shall not be permitted to do gas piping, electric wiring, whether low or high voltage, or make water connections, or work on low or high pressure hot water heating systems " "Section 158g--Regulations. All Air Conditioning, Warm Air Heating, Air Cooling and Ventilating Systems shall be under the supervision of the Building Inspector and done in accordance with Pamphlet No 90, Standards of the National Beard of Fire Underwriters, and all amendments thereto, as recommended by the National Fire Protection Association " Section 2 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for the preservation of the public health, peace and tafety, and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage under and by virtue of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter 2 Introduced, read at length, and adopted by the unani- mous vote of all members of the City Council, at a regular meeting of the City Council, held this 21st day of February, A D 1946 )3'--m Q K Mayor Attest ,p t� City Clerk 3 STATE OF COLORADO, ) ss County of Larimer. ) I, MILES F. HOUSE, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby certify and declare that the aforesaid Ordinance, consisting of two Sections, was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting of the City Council, held on the 21st day of February, A D 1946, and was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan, a daily newspaper and official newspaper of the City of Fort Collins, by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, as an Emergency Ordinance, in accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter, and thereafter and on, to-wit the 26th day of February , A, D 1946, said Ordinance No. 1 was duly published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins, Colorado IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said City, this 26th day of Pebruary , A D 1946 City Clerk
