HomeMy WebLinkAbout023 - 08/11/1923 - MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BRIDGE ACROSS THE CACHE LA POUDRE RIVER ON LINDEN ORDINANCE NO 1923 BEING AN EHERGENCY ORDINANCE MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BRIDGE ACROSS THE CACHE LA POUDRE RIVER ON LINDEN STREET WHEREAS, since the adoption of the annual appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1923, an unforeseen contingency has arisen due to the destruction of the bridge over the Cache La Poudre river on Linden Street caused by floods, and the construction of said bridge is a public necessity r6ggiring an appropriation of Dublic funds without delay to meet this demand, therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 That there be and hereby is appropriated out of the revenues mf the City of Fort Collins the sum of four thousand ($4000) dollars to be used by the department of Public works for the reconstruction of the bridge across the Cache La Poudre river on Linden Street, which said sum when this ordinance takes effect shall be credited on the books of the City Clerk and City Treasurer to the Linden Street Bridge Fund upon which all warrants shall be drawn in payment of the bills for labor and material for the constr- uction of said bridge and all said warrants shall have aW printed or written on their face the name of the fund upon which they are drawn, and in the event there are no funds available in the City Treasury With which to pay the said warrants when presented to the city treasurer he shall endorse thereon "Presents ed for payment date and no funds, this warrant will draw interest at the rate of six per cent per anum from date of presentation until payment" City Treasurer Section 2 The City Council in the event of the revenues being insufficient to nay the warrants authorized under the appropriation contained in section one of this ordinance shall provide by appropriation from the general revenues of 1924 and 1925 suf icient funds with which to pay said warrants and all interest accruing thereon 1 Section 3 This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance under virtue of the provisions of Section 13 of Article xa of the City Charter as being necessary for the preservation and safety of the public property and the convenience of the general public in the use of the streets and highways of the city and it is further certified and declared by the City Council that it is necessary for this ordinance to be passed finally upon the date when it is introduced by reason of the emergency for the preserv- ation of the public health peace and safety and under and in pursuance of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article ZV of the City Charter Introduced, read at length and adopted by unanimous vote of all the members of the City Council this llth day of August, 1923 ommissiorer of Safety d Ex-Officio Mayor ATTEST City Clerk STATE OF COLORAM ) Ss COUNTY OF LARDER ) I, A J ROSENOW, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins do hereby certify and declare that the foregoing ordinance consisting of three (3) section was duly proposed and read at length at a meeting of the City Council held on the llth day of August, 1923, and was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Courier, a doily newspaper and the official paper of the City of Fort Collins, by the unanimous vote of all the members of the Council as an emergency ordinance in accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 and 7,- of Article IV of the City Charter and thereafter and on, towit, the ��— day of r 1923, said Ordinance No a 3 was duly published in the Fort C lins Courier, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins, Colorado IN FITNESS WBERE0F, I ve hereunto set my h d and affixed the seal of said City this /Z� day of 1923 City Clerk
