ORDINANCE NO. 103, 1981
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS
OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING .CODE, 1979 EDITION,
AS AMENDED
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS:
Section 1 . That Section 1711(f) (Glazing for Shower and Bathtub
Enclosures) of the Uniform Building Code, 1979 Edition, is amended by
deleting the exception thereto and adding exceptions to read as follows:
'Exceptions:
1. Glazed openings with the minimum sill height of 48
inches above the drain inlet of the tub and/or shower.
2. Glazing within the vertical plane that is located a
minimum distance of 24 inches from any point on the
nearest interior tub surface, measured horizontally.
3. Glazing with the minimum total combined measurement of
48 inches using the sum of the vertical distance meas-
ured above the tub drain and the horizontal distance
measured from the nearest interior surface of the
tub.
Section 2 . That Section 3305(j ) (Stairways - Handrails) of the
Uniform Building Code, 1979 Edition, is amended by adding an exception to
read as follows:
Exceptions:
3. In Group R, Division 3 and Group R, Division 1 Apart-
ment House Occupancies, stairways having less than four
risers need not have handrails.
Section 3. That Section 5207(a)(6) (Skylights - General ) of the
Uniform Building Code, 1979 Edition, is amended by adding an exception to
read as follows:
Exceptions:
2. In Group R, Division 1 Apartment House and Division 3
Occupancies, the minimum separation may be 18 inches. '

Section 4. That Section ' 5207(a)(7) (Skylights General ) of the
Uniform Building Code, 1979 Edition, is amended by adding an exception to
read as follows:
Exception:
In Group R, Division 1 Apartment House and Division 3
Occupancies, skylights may be installed to a point not
less than five feet from an exterior wall located where
openings in such exterior wall are either prohibited or
required to be protected.
