HomeMy WebLinkAbout003 - 02/28/1963 - CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR A GENERAL CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, APRIL 2, 1963 ORDINANCE NO 3, 1963 CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR A GENERAL CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, COLORADO, ON TUESDAY, THE 2nd DAY OF APRIL, A D 1963 WHEREAS, Article XVI, Section 2 of the Charter for the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, adopted October 5, 1954, provides for a general City election to be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in April, 1955, and biennially thereafter, and WHEREAS, said Charter requires that the Council shall provide by Ordinance for the manner of holding City elections and such additional regulations in respect thereto as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of said Charter NOW, THEREFOTIE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 That a general City election be and the same is hereby called as provided by law to be held in the several precincts of the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, on Tuesday, the 2nd day of April, A D 1963 At such election three members of the City Council shall be elected to hold office for four years from the first Tuesday in April after the second Monday in April, 1963, and at such election there shall also be submitted to the qualified voters such charter amendments and such other measures as are to be voted on Section 2 The said election shall be held at the follo,�ang places in said precincts in the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, to-wit Precinct A-1 - Fire Department, Old City Hall, at 238 Walnut Street Precinct B-1 - City Hall at 300 LaPorte Avenue Precinct B-2 - LaPorte Avenue School at 714 LaPorte Avenue Precinct B-3 - Bible Baptist Church at 1020 W Mountain Avenue Precinct B-4 - Putnam School at 1400 Wilson Street Precinct C-1 - Larimer County Court House Precinct C-2 - Lincoln Junior High School at 417 S Meldrum Street Precinct C-3 - First United Presbyterian Church at 531 S College Avenue Precinct C-4 - Washington School at 223 S Shields Street Precinct C-5 - Dunn School at 501 S Washington Street Precinct C-6 - Immanuel Southern Baptist Church at 1725 W Mulberry Street Precinct C-7 - C S U Men's Gymnasium Building Precinct C-8 - Moore School at 1900 Orchard Place Precinct C-9 - Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 1200 S Taft Hill Road Precinct D-1 - Remington School at 318 Remington Street Precinct D-2 - Faith Evangelical Free Church at Olive and Whedbee Streets Precinct D-3 - Laurel School at 330 E Laurel Street Precinct E-1 - Town House Motel at 914 S College Avenue Precinct E-2 - Harris School at 501 E Elizabeth Street Precinct E-3 - Fort Collins High School, , at 1400 Remington Street Precinct E-4 - Barton School at 703 E Prospect Street Precinct E-5 - Still Linoleum & Tile Co at 2100 S College Avenue Precinct E-6 - Lesher Junior High School at 1400 Stover Street Section 3 The polls shall be opened at the hour of 7 00 o'clock A Pi and shall remain open continuously until and be closed at 7 00 o'clock P M of said day Section 4 The said election shall be held and conducted as nearly as may be in the manner prescribed by law in the case of elections for municipal officers Each elector offering to vote in the said election must be a qualified elector and must be registered in accordance with the provisions of said Charter Section 5 The City Clerk shall give notice of registration by advertisement in the Fort Collins Coloradoan, the official newspaper of the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, for 10 days prior to March 22, 1963, and by Posting a printed notice of registration on the outside of the City Hall at least 10 days prior to March 22, 1963, to the effect that registration will be held in the Citr, and the City Council finds and determines that such notice is sufficient, adequate and reasonable notice to all qualified electors to register for said election to be held on April 2, 1963 Registration for voting will be open as soon as convenient and continue open until the close of the office of the City Clerk at 5 00 o'clock P M on March 22, 1963 Section 6 The City Clerk, under the direction of the Board of Elections, shall prepare the ballots to be used at the aforesaid election as provided by Section 7, Article XVI, of said City Charter, and the City Clerk shall publish notice and call said general election as herein authorized in accordance with Section 5, Article XVI of said City Charter Said City Clerk, under the direction of the Board of Elections, shall arrange the polling places, matters of registration, and all other details necessary for said election Section 7 The Board of Elections shall provide for determination of the winner in event of tie vote, for canvass of returns of said election, and for issuance of appropriate certificates as` provided in Sections 6 and 12 of Article XVI of said City Charter -2- t Introduced, considered favorably on first reading and ordered published this 7th day of February, A D 1963, and to be presented for final passage on February 28, 1963 Mayor ATTEST �2n City c Passed and adopted on final reading this 28th day of February, A D 1963 Mayor ATTEST CimCILeric —3—
