HomeMy WebLinkAbout041 - 10/03/1963 - APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $500 000 FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1963 FOR WATER WORKS IMPROVEMENT AND BETTERMEN ORDINANCE NO 41 1963 APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($500 000 00) FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1963 FOR WATER WORKS IMPROVEMENT AND BETTERMENT WHEREAS it is necessary that the City of Fort Collins immediately acquire additional reservoir facilities for its municipal water works system and WHEREAS the engineers engaged by the City for this purpose are ready for the letting of contracts in connection therewith, and WHEREAS, the budget for the year 1963 does not include an item for this expenditure and MEEREAS, the actual necessity to meet the expenses incident to such improvement and betterment of the municipal water works system has arisen from an unforeseen contingency arising after the passage of the annual appropriation ordinance, and WHEREAS, Section 8 of Chapter 5 of the City Charter provides that the City Council may provide by ordinance for the payment of any expense, the actual necessity of which is caused by any unforeseen contingency arising after the passage of the annual appropriation ordinance, and WHEREAS there are adequate funds to meet this expense in the reserve for depreciation fund of the division of Electric Light and Power of the Depart- ment of Municipal Public Utilities NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 That there be and there is hereby appropriated for the improvement and betterment of the municipal water works system and primarily for the expenses incident to the acquiring of additional reservoir facilities the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500 000 00) Section 2 Said sum of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500 000 00) is hereby transferred out of the reserve for depreciation fund of the division of Electric Light and Power of the Department of Municipal Public Utilities into the general fund of the City of Fort Collins Section 3 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for the actual preservation of the public peace/ health, safety or property, and this Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage under and by virtue of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article 2 of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins Introduced read at length and adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council at a regular meeting held this 3rd day of October A D 1963 Mayor ATTEST City 7 er STATE OF COLORADO ) ss COUNTY OF LARIMER ) I, MILES F HOUSE, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, do hereby certify and declare that the aforesaid Ordinance, consisting of three sections, was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting of the City Council, held on the 3rd day of October, A D 1963, and was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan, a daily newspaper and official newspaper of the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, as an Emergency Ordinance, in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 and 7 of Article II of the City Charter, and thereafter and on, to-wit the 8th day of October, A D 1963, said Ordinance No 41 was duly published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins, Colorado IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said City, this 8th day of October, A D 1963 � City Clerk
