HomeMy WebLinkAbout004 - 02/15/1935 - AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF 4% REGISTERED WARRANTS NOT TO EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $1200 ON ACCOUN f ORDINANCE NO 4 21935 BEING AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF 4% REGISTERED WARRANTS NOT TO EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $1200 00 ON ACCOUNT OF AN EMERGENCY ARISING IN CONNECTION WITH A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD WITH RESPECT TO THE AMENDMENT OF ARTICLE XVIII OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS BY CHANGING SECTION 24 SO AS TO DEFER THE ACQUISITION OF A MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHT AND POWER SYSTEM AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS , since the adoption of the annual appro- priation ordinance for the fiscal year ending December 31 , 1935 , an emergency and unforeseen contingency has arisen, whereby it has become and is necessary to expend not to exceed the sum of Twelve Hundred ($1200 00) Dollars on account of the costs and expenses of holding a special election to adopt or reject a proposea amendment to Article XVIII of the City Charter of the City of Fort Collins , by changing Section 24 so as to defer the acquisition of a municipal electric light and power system and for other purposes THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 That there be and hereby is appro- priated out of the general revenues of the City of Fort Collins for the year 1936 and subsequent years , or from such other source or sources as may hereafter be directed by the City Council, unless taken up prior thereto , the sum of Twelve Hundred ($1200 00) Dollars on account of the expenses arising in connection with a special election to be hereafter held to vote upon the adoption or re- jection of a proposed amendment to Article XVIII of the City Charter of the City of Fort Collins, by changing Section 24 thereof so as to defer the acquisition of a municipal electric light and power system and for other purposes, and registered 4% warrants of the City shall be issued to cover the amount -1- required therefor not to exceed the sum of Twelve Hundred ($1200 00) Dollars , the denomination of said warrants to be as directed by the Commissioner of Finance , which said sum when this ordinance shall take effect , shall be credited on the books of the City Clerk and City Treasurer respectively to Municipal Ownership Emergency Fund Section 2 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for the preservation of the public health , peace and safety and tnis Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage under and by virtue of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter Introduced, read at length and adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, at a regular meeting of the City Council held the 15th day of February, A D 1935 Commissioner of Safety and Ex-Officio Mayor Attest City Clerk _ r STATE OF COLORADO, ) ss County of Larimer ) I, A J ROSENOW, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins , do hereby certify and declare that the aforesaid Ordinance , consisting of two (2) sections , was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 15th day of February, A D 1935, anca was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Express- Courier , a daily newspaper and the official newspaper of the City of Fort Collins , by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, as an Emergency Ordinance , in accordance with the pro- visions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter, and thereafter and on to-wit the 21st day of February, A D 1935, said Ordinance No 4 was duly published in the Fort Collins Express-Courier, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins , Colorado IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said City, this 21st day of February, A D 1935 City Clerk
