BEING AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING CONNECTIONS 7ITH ANY ELECTRIC
14IRE OWNED OR OPERATED BY THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS , WITHOUT
THE KNOWLEDGE AND CONSENT OF THE CITY OR TO TAKE ELECTRIC
ENERGY FROM THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHT SYSTEM OF THE CITY
EXCEPT THROUGH A METER OR OTHER MEASURING DEVICE OWNED BY AND
INSTALLED BY SAID CITE' OF FORT COLLINS AND MAKING IT UNLAWFUL
TO INJURE OR INTERFERE WITH THE INSTALLATION OR OPERATION OF
ANY ELECTRIC METER OWNED OR OPERATED BY THE CITY, OR TO TAMPER
WITH MOLEST OR DAMAGE ANY PART OF THE ELECTRIC LIGHT OR POWER
SYSTEM AND PROVIDING PENALTIES THEREFOR
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
Section 1 That no person shall connect any wire ,
cord, socket, motor or other instrument , device or contrivance ,
by which electricity may be transmitted or supplied to any lamp ,
globe , heating apparatus, or other instrument by or at which
electricity is or may be consumed, with any wire owned or
operated by the City of Fort Collins , and constructed to trans-
mit or supply electricity to any house or other building, with-
out the consent of the Light and Power Department of the City
Section Z That no person shall connect any wire ,
cord, socket , motor or other instrument device or contrivance
by which electricity may be transmitted or supplied to any lamp ,
globe heating apparatus or other instrument by or at which
electricity is or may be consumea, with any wire owned or
operated by the City of Fort Collins , and constructed to trans-
mit or supply electricity to any house or other building , in
such manner as to transmit or supply any such electricity
without passing through the meter provided for measuring or
registering the amount of such electricity, without the consent
of the Light and Powe5 Department of the City
Section 3 That no person shall wilfully injure,
alter or in any manner interfere with or obstruct the action or

operation of any meter provided for measuring or registering
the amount of electricity passing through it , without the
knowledge and consent of the Light and Power Department of
the City
Section 4 No person shall take electric energy
from the distributing system of the City of Fort Collins ,
except through a meter or other measuring device owned and
Installed by the City and with the consent of the said City
of Fort Collins to take such electric energy It shall also
be unlawful to tamper with, molest or damage /in any manner
any part of the electric light and power system of the City of
Fort Collins
Section 5 That proof of the existence of any
wire connection or of any injury, alteration or obstruction
of a meter, as in this ordinance provided, shall be taken as
prima facie evidence of the guilt of the person in possession
of the premises where such connection, injury, alteration or
obstruction is proved to exist
Section 6 That any person convicted of a
violation of any provision of this ordinance shall be fined
not less than $25 00 nor more than $300 00 for each offense
Section 7 In the opinion of the City Council
an emergency exists for the preservation of the public health,
peace and safety, and this ordinance shall take effect upon
its passage under and by virtue of the authority contained in
Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter
Introduced, read at length and adopted by the
unanimous vote of all members of the City Council at a regular
meeting of the City Council, held this 24th day of May, A D 1935

I, A J ROSENOW, City Clerk of the
City of Fort Collins , do hereby certify and declare that the
foregoing Ordinance consisting of seven (7) sections , was
duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting of the
City Council , held on the 24th day of May, A D 1935, and
was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins
Express-Courier, a daily newspaper and the official newspaper
of the City of Fort Collins , by the unanimous vote of all
members of the City Council as an emergency ordinance, in
accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article
IV of the City Charter, and thereafter and on to-wit the
31st day of May, A D 1935 , said Ordinance No 11 was
duly published in The Fort Collins Express-Courier , a daily
newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins , Colorado
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and affixed the seal of said City, this 31st day of
May, A D 1935
