HomeMy WebLinkAbout012 - 05/31/1935 - AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF 4% REGISTERED WARRANT NOT TO EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $1000, WITH RESP ORDINANCE NO la 1935, BEING AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AUTHORIZII\TG THE ISSUANCE OF 4% REGISTERED WARRAFITS NOT TO EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $1000.00 ; WITH RESPECT TO THE SUBMISSION TO A VOTE OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS THE QUESTION CONCERNING THE SALE OF MALT, VINOUS AND/OR SPIRITUOUS LIQUORS WITHIN THE CITY AS PRO- VIDED BY LIQUOR CODE OF 1935 WHEREAS , since the adoption of the annual appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year ending December 31 , 1935, an emergency and unforeseen contingency has arisen, whereby it has become and is necessary to expend not to exceed the sum of One Thousand (p1000 00) Dollars on account of the costs and expenses of holding a special election to vote upon the following question Shall the sale of malt , vinous and/ or spirituous liquors be prohibited under any of the classes set forth in Section 15 of House Bill 192 approved April 12 , 1935 and known as Liquor Code 1935 THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 That there be and hereby is appro- priated out of the general revenues of the City of Fort Collins for the year 1936 and subsequent years , or from such other source or sources as may hereafter be directed by the City Council ,unless taken up prior thereto , the sum of One Thousand $1000.00) Dollars , on account of the expenses arising in con- nection with a special election to be hereafter held to vote upon the following question Shall the sale of malt , vinous and/or spirituous liquors be prohibited under any of the classes set forth in Section 15 of House Bill 192 approved April 12 , 1935 and known as Liquor Code , 1935 , and registered 4% warrants -1- of the City shall be issuea to cover the amount required therefor not to exceed the sun of One Thousand ($1000 00) Dollars , the denomination of said warrants to be as directed by the Commissioner of Finance , which said stun, when this ordinance shall take effect , shall be credited on the books of the City Clerk and City Treasurer respectively to Election Liquor Code 1935 Fund Section 2 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety and this Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage under and by virtue of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter Introduced , read at length and adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council , at a regular meeting of the City Council , held the 31st day of May , A D. 1935. �cwl Commissioner of Safety and Ex-Officio Mayor Attest vzcu.� City Clerk STATE OF COLORADO , ) ss County of Larimer ) I, A J ROSENOW, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins , do hereby certify and declare that the aforesaid Ordinance , consisting of two ( 2) Sections , was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 31st day of May , A D 1935) and was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Express-Courier, a daily newspaper and the official newspaper of the City of Fort Collins , by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, as an Emergency Ordinance , in accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter, and thereafter and on to-wit the 7th day of June , A D 1935 , said Ordinance No 12 was duly published in the Fort Collins Express-Courier, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins , Colorado IN WITNESS WEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand ana affixed the seal of said City, this 7th day of June , A D 1935 City Clerk
