HomeMy WebLinkAbout002 - 03/06/1953 - AMENDING NO. 030, 1924, AS AMENDED, AND ORDINANCE NO. 009, 1937, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE BUILDIN ^ r ORDINANCE NO t 1953 BEING AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE-AMENDING NO , 924, AS AMENDED, AND ORDINANCE NO 9, 1937, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE BUILDING CODE FOR THE CITY OF FORT COLLINb, PROVIDING RULES AND REGUUMONS THEREUNDER, PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCE$ AND FARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICS HEREWITH BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 That Section 180K as added by Ordinance No 6, 1950, to Ordinance No 30, 1924, as amended by Ordinance No 9, 1937, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows, to-wit "Secta.on 180K - ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT AND WIRING All electric wiring for light, heat and power service equipment, for radio and television receiving systems, and all alterations or extensions to existing wiring systems in buildings and structures shall comply with the approved rules and regulations of the National Electric Code as now existing, and in accord with all future modifications thereof, provided, however, that rigid metal conduit, or its equivalent, as approved by the electrical inspector, shall be used within the City fire limits designated as Electrical District E-1 and being that area comprising blocks 11, 12, 13, 14, 180 19, 21, 22, 23, 31, 32, 33, 1012 102, 111, 1120 113, 121, 122, 123, 131, 132�and 141 for the wiring of the following buildings in said Electrical District E-1, to-.wit public buildings, hotels, apartment houses, hospitals, rest homes and gasoline pumps and islands where imbedded in concrete, and that electric metallic tubing known as thin wall tubing or its equivalent, as approved by the electrical inspector, shall otherwise be used within said pity fire limits, provided further, that all classes of wiring approved in the National Electric Code except open, concealed knob and tube, bare conductor and non-metallic sheathed cable may be used in Electrical District E-2, which is all the area within the corporate limits of Fort Coll-ins outside the city fire limits, and not included in electrical district E-3, and provided further that all classes of wiring approved in the National Electric Code may be used in Electrical District E-3, which saia district comprises that area within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Collins outside the City fire limits and lying North of Maple Street, North and East of Jefferson Street and Riverside Avenue, and East of Cowan Street, and provided further that unventilated drum type electrical fixtures are prohibited within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Collins 11 Section 2 Repeal of Conflicting Ordinances All ordinances or parts of ordinances conflicting with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed Section 3 Emergency Clause In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety, and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, under and by virtue of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter Introduced, read at length and adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the CityCouncil, at a regular meeting held this 6th day of March, A D 1953 Cori iss oner of a ety�cio Mayor ATTEST City Cleric 2- STATE OF COLORADO) ) ss COUNTY OF LARIMIlt) I, MILES F HOUSE, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby certify and declare that the aforesaid Ordinance, consisting of three sections, was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting of the City Council, held on the 6th day of March, A D 1953, and was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins, Coloradoan, a daily newspaper and official news.. paper of the City of Fort Collins, by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, as an Emergency Ordinance, in accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter, and thereafter and on,t0-wit the lOtf day of March, A D 1953, said Ordinance No __Z ^was duly published in the Fort Collins, Coloradoan, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins, Colorado IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said City, this loth day of Marc'i, A D 1953 _ �'��ii:�C► CSC/ —`�"- CityClerk -3-
