BEING AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE FEES TO BE PAID FOR
DOG LICENSES IN THE CITY .OF FORT COLLINS AND PROVIDING
FOX KENNEL LICENSES AND FOR THE FEES.TO BE PAID FOR.KENNEL
LICENSES IN_THE CITY OF FORT. COLLINS;.AND AMENDING SECTIONS
3-11 AND 3-12. OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE .CITY OF_ FORT
COLLINS -
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS:
Section 1. That Section 3-11. of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Fort Collins be and the same is hereby amended as follows: By deleting the
following words, to-wit:
"The dog license tax shall be $3.00 for each male and
spayed female and $5.00 for each unspiyed female. All
license fees shall.be annual and shall expire on December
31 of each year and all license fees from July 31 _to
December 31 shall be one-half of fee set forth herein."
and by substituting the following words, to-wit:
"The dog license tax shall be as follows:
License acquired on or before March 1 of each year or within
30 days after moving to the City of Fort Collins or acquiring a dog:
Male or Spayed Female Female
First or second dogs
registered by same family $1.50 $3.00
Each additional dog
registered by one family $3.00 $5.00
" License acquired after March 1 of each year or after 30 days
after moving to the City of Fort Collins or acquiring a dog:
Male or Spayed Female Female
First or second dogs
registered by same family $3.00 $5.00
Each additional dog
registered by one family $4.50 $7.00"
Section 2. That Section 3-11 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Fort Collins be and the same hereby is amended by adding at the end thereof
the following paragraphs:
"It shall be unlawful for any person in the City of Fort
Collins to own, operate or maintain a kennel in the City
of Fort Collins unless such person shall have a kennel
license issued by the Director of Finance of the City of
Fort Collins. Kennel licenses shall be granted upon appli-
cation to the Director -of Finance to persons operating
kennels in properly zoned areas upon payment of the follow-
ing fees : for any license applied for on or before-February
1 of each year or prior to the applicants operation -of a
kennel, $25.00; for any license applied for after February
1 of each year and after having already operated a_kennel,
$35.00. Kennel licenses shall allow the operator to keep
up to fifteen (15) dogs in any one year. Additional dogs
may be registered upon payment of a fee of 75p for each
additional male or spayed female dog and $.1.50 for each
female dog.
All dog license fees and kennel license fees shall be
annual and shall expire on December 31 of each year."
Section 3. - That Section 3-12, of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Fort Collins be and the same hereby is amended by1deleting the following
words, to-wit:
"Dog tags .shall not be transferable from one dog to another
and no refunds shall'be made on any dog license fee because
of'death of the dog or the owner's leaving the City before
expiration of the license period."
and by substituting the following words, to-wit:
"Any licensed dog transferred or sold to a new owner may
be licensed" by such new owner for the balance of the year
upon surrender of the original license and payment of a fee
of 75C for the first-or second dog owned by a family. For
aiiy'additional dogs owned by any family, the fee in the_
above situation shall be the regular fee as heretofore
set forth. Except as provided"above, dog tags shall not
be transferable from one dog to another and no refunds
shall 'be made on any .dog license fee because of the death
of the dog or the owner's leaving the City before expiration
of the license period."
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading and ordered published
this 16th day of November, A. D. 1961, and to be presented for final passage
on the 7th day of December, A. D. 1961.
