HomeMy WebLinkAbout077 - 01/05/1967 - AMENDING SECTION 9-22 OF THE CITY CODE RELATING TO REQUIREMENTS FOR GASOLINE DISPENSING SERVICE STAT ORDINANCE NO 77 , 1966 BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9-22 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, COLORADO, 1958, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO REQUIREMENTS FOR GASOLINE DISPENSING SERVICE STATIONS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS: Section 1 That Section 9-22 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, 1958, as amended, be and the same hereby is amended by deleting therefrom subsections C and D and by substituting therefor the following C. The entrance and exit driveway or driveways are at least 24 feet wide and located at least 10 feet from adjoining property lines and at least 20 feet from the corner of intersecting public streets D Every gasoline pump is located at least 25 feet from any street line and at least 40 feet from the side and rear lines of the premises Section 2 That Section 9-22 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, 1958, as amended, be and the same hereby is amended by adding thereto the following E The site of the station is so graded that all drainage is away from adjoining buildings or structures or into a suitable private storm sewer F There is a minimum distance between any building and °iny r pump of at least 20 feet except that when the building is used by the public such minimum distance shall be 50 feet Buildings containing space used as a service station office or to service or wash automobiles shall not be construed to be public buildings for the purposes of thissection G If any building used by the public is upon any premises to be used as a gasoline service station and such building is used for purposes not normally associated with the gasoline service station business, such building shall have in addition to a front entrance a rear exit which shall be open at all times from the inside H. Except for pump islands which are in a direct line with each other there shall be a minimum distance between pump islands of 15 feet I There is a minimum distance between areas on the premises designated for parking by the public and gasoline dispensing pumps of no less than 50 feet unless such parking area is separated from such pumps by a curb at least 18 inches high or a fence at least 24 inches high In addition to the above restrictions no permit for a self-service gasoline dispensing station shall be issued unless A The lot or parcel of land to be used as a self-service gasoline dispensing station has an unobstructed driveway area of at least 5,280 square feet. And in the event traffic can flow through the station driveways to other private areas, the islands, curb cuts and curbing must be so constructed and arranged as to prevent vehicular traffic from crossing the usual traffic pattern of gasoline customers B. The gasoline dispensing nozzle is of an approved automatic closing type without a latch open device C. The attendant has an unobstructed view of all dispensing equipment at all times and is able to observe the dispensing of gasoline D Emergency controls are installed at a location acceptable to the Chief of the Fire Department which controls can be used to shut off any or all pumps at any time E. Ready access is provided from the attendant's observation point to the pumps which access has been approved by the Chief of the Fire Department Introduced, considered favorable on first reading and ordered published this 8th day of December, A.
