BEING AN ORDINANCE SU]MTTING TO THE VOTERS OF THE
CITY OF FORT COLLINS AT THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON APRIL 49 19679 A PROPOSED ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING
THE FLUORIDATION OF THE DOMESTIC WATER SUPPLY OF THE
CITY OF FORT COLLINS
WHEREAS, Ordinance No 61, 1966, prohibits the fluoridating of the domestic
water supply of the City of Fort Collins unless the some is approved by the voters
of the City of Fort Collins at an election, and
WHEREAS, it appears to be the consensus of scientific, medical and dental
opinion that the presence of fluoride in drinker water is a deterrent to tooth
decay, and
WHEREAS, such chemical element is not found in the natural supply of water
distributed to the citizens of the City of Fort Collins in sufficient quantities
to reduce tooth decay, and
WHEREAS, fluoridation of drinking water under such conditions as exist in this
municipality has been endorsed by such groups as the United States Public Health
Service, The American Public Health Association, The American Dental Association,
The American Water Works Association, The American Medical Association, various
local civic groups and organizations and many citizens, and
WHEREAS, it appears that fluoride can be introduced into the drinking water
supply of the City of Fort Collins as a measure to promote the public health and
welfare, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of Fort Collins
that it is in the beat interests of the residents of the City of Fort Collins to
inaugurate the practice of fluoridating the municipal water system of the City of
Fort Collins.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIRED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
That there is submitted to the qualified voters of the City of Fort Collins
at the general election to be held on Tuesday, the 41h day of April, A.D , 19679
the question of whether or not the following ordinance shall be adopted

"PEOPLES ORDINANCE NO 1, 1967
BEING AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE INTRODUCTION OF
FLUORIDE INTO THE WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM OF THE CITY
OF FORT COLLINS, COLORADO.
BE IT ORDAINED
That the City Council of the City of Fort Collins is hereby authorized to
fluoridate the water supply system of the City of Fort Collins "
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading and ordered published this
