ORDINANCE N0. 9, 1967
BEING AN ORDINANCE SUMIITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS
OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS THE QUESTION OF AMENDING
ARTICLE XVI of THE CITY CHARTER AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Section 5 of Article XX of the Constitution of the State of Colorado,
provides that the City Council may on its own initiative submit any charter amendment
at any general municipal election held not less than thirty days after the effective
date of the ordinance submitting such question to the voters, and
WHEREAS, a general city election will be held on Tuesday, the 4M day of April,
A D., 1967, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council that there should be submitted to
the qualified voters of the City of Fort Collins the matter of amending Article XVI
of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
Section 1 That there is hereby submitted to the qualified voters of the
City of Fort Collins at the general election to be held on Tuesday, the a day of
April, A.D , 1967, the question of whether or not Article XVI of the Charter of the
City of Fort Collins should be amended by adding thereto the following section
"Section 17 Absentee Voting
The provisions of any and all State Laws governing
municipal elections as the same are related to absentee voting,
whether now or hereafter in force, shall govern all municipal
elections except insofar as the council may otherwise by
ordinance provide "
Section 2 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for the
actual preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property and this
ordinance shall take effect upon its passage under and by virtue of the authority
contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article II of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins.
Introduced, read at length and adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of
the City of Fort Collins City Council at a regular meeting held this 9m day of
February, A D., 1967 - /

I, MILES F. HOUSE, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins, do
hereby certify and declare that the aforesaid Ordinance, consisting of
two sections, was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting
of the City Council held on the 9th day of February, A D. 1967, and
was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan,
a daily newspaper and official newspaper of the City of Fort Collins,
by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, as an Emergency
Ordinance, in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 and 7 of Article
II of the City Charter, and thereafter and on, to-wit the 14th day
of FbbrunT , A D 1967, said Ordinance No 9 was duly
published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan, a daily newspaper published in
the City of Fort Collins, Colorado
