ORDINANCE No. lo, 1967
BEING AN ORDINANCE SQB1ITTING TO TEE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF
THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS THE QUESTION OF AMENDING SECTION 1,
ARTICLE IX OF THE CITY CHARTER AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Section 5 of Article XX of the Constitution of the State of Colorado,
provides that the City Council may on its own initiative submit any charter amendment
at any general municipal election held not less than thirty days after the effective
date of the ordinance submitting such question to the voters, and
WHEREAS, a general city election wi.Ll be held on Tuesday, the a day of April
A D., 1967, and
WHERFEAS, it is the opinion of the City Council that there should be submitted to
the qualified voters of the City of Fort Collins the matter of amending Section 19
Article IX of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
Section 1 That there is hereby submitted to the qualified voters of the City
of Fort Collins at the general election to be held on Tuesday, the a day of April,
A.D., 1967, the question of whether or not Section 1, Article IX of the Charter of
the City of Fort Collins should be amended to read as follows
"Section 1 Department Created.
A Department of Municipal Public Untilities is hereby
created, which shall include a division of electric light and power,
and other divisions for any other public utility acquired by the
City. Provided, that the Council may, by ordinance, include the
division of water including the sanitary sewer system and disposal
plant under the department of public works or under any other
appropriate department "
Section 2 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists £or the
actual preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property and this
ordinance shall take effect upon its passage under and by virtue of the authority
contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article II of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins.
Introduced, read at length and adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of
the City Council at a regular meeting held this 91 day of February, A.D., 1967

I, MILES F HOUSE, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins, do
hereby certify and declare that the aforesaid Ordinance, consisting of
two sections, was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting
of the City Council held on the 9th day of February, A D. 1967, and
was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan,
a daily newspaper and official newspaper of the City of Fort Collins,
by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, as an Emergency
Ordinance, in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 and 7 of Article
II of the City Charter, and thereafter and on, to-wit the 14th day
of February., A. D 1967, said Ordinance No 10 was duly
published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan, a daily newspaper published in
the City of Fort Collins, Colorado
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set nor hand and affixed the
seal of said City, this 14th day of February , A D 1967
