BEING AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE CONTROL OF CATS IN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS PROHIBITING
CATS RUNNING AT LARGE IN SAID CITY PROVIDING FOR THE IMPOUNDING OF ANY CAT RUNNING AT
LARGE AND ESTABLISHING FEES FOR THE IMPOUNDING OF CATS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
Section 1 Definitions For the purpose of this ordinance the following terms and
words shall have the following meanings
Cat - the term Cat sall mean any member of the felidae famil} and any member of
the feline family
Cat owner - the term cat owner shall mean every person in possession of or
harboring any cat as that term is herein defined or who shall suffer any
such animal to remain about his premises for a period of ten days
Section 2 it shall be unlawful for any owner of any cat to permit knowingly or
unkowingly such cat to rum at large to stray beyond the limits or premises of its owner
unless under the control of some responsible person by leash or othes^wise Any cat not
under said control of some responsible person found in any street alley or public place
or on the premises of a pravate person providing such person makes a written complaint to
the city shall be deemed to be running at large and it shall be lawful for the City to
cause such cat to be trapped and impounded
Section 3 Any owner of a cat desiring to redeem such cat from the pound shall pay
the City the sum of $5 00 as an impoundment fee together with the sum of $1 00 for each
day of impoundment for room and board and together with any other costs incurred by the
City on account of the impounding of such cat In the event any cat has been impounded
and not redeemed within three days the same shall be disposed of by the City in a humane
manner
