OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
DESIGNATING PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 69 OF THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
WHEREAS, on December 3, 1979, the Cultural Resources Board of the City
of Fort Collins, ex-officio the Fort Collins' Landmark Preservation Com-
mission, held a public hearing concerning the proposed local Historic
Landmark designation of the Maxwell Property (2340 West Mulberry) within
the City of Fort Collins, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said public hearing, the Cultural Resources Board
affirmatively recommended to the City Council of the City of Fort Collins
that the Maxwell Property (2340 West Mulberry) be designated as a Historic
Landmark pursuant to Chapter 69 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins,
and
WHEREAS, the Cultural Resources Board voted unanimously on October 27,
1982, to once again submit said recommendation to the City Council for
consideration, and
WHEREAS, such Landmark would be designated for the following purposes
1 To encourage public knowledge and apprecia-
tion of the architectural heritage that con-
tributed to the history of Fort Collins and
its surroundings The house is a represen-
tative example of a Fort Collins turn-of-the
century farm house, one of few remaining in the
area today
2 To promote the public welfare by strengthening
the cultural and educational life of the City
3 To prevent misguided improvements
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS AS FOLLOWS
Section 1 That that certain property more particarly described as
follows
Beginning at a point on the south line SE 1/4
9-7-69, which bears S 89035' 30" E 870 feet
from South quarter corner of said Section 9,
thence N 00024' 30" E 147 50 feet, S 89035' 30"
E 97 80 feet S 00°24'30" W 147 50 feet, N 89035'
30" W 97 80 feet to point of beginning
be, and it hereby is, designated as a Historic Landmark pursuant to Chapter
69 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins
Section 2 That said district shall be known as the Maxwell House
Section 3 That this designation shall take effect at such time as a
certified copy of this Ordinance has been recorded in the Office of the
Clerk and Recorder of Larimer County
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered pub-
lished this 16th day of November, A D 1982, and to be presented for final
passage on the 7th day of December, A D 1982
