BEING AN OPOINANCE AMENDING SECTIO�, 1703 OF THE UNIFORri BUILDING CODE
INSOFAR AS IT PELATES TO USABLE SPACE UNDER FLOOPS
BE IT ORDAIvED BY THE COUNCIL GF ThE CITY OF rOr'T COLLIr'S as follows
Section 1 That Section 1703 of the Uniform Builoing Code, 1976
Edition, be, arL the sai7e ner ebx, is, amended to read as fol to vs
"�'1703 Usable Space Under Floors Usable floor space under the
first story shall be enclosed except in Group P, Division 3
and M Occupancies and sjch enclosure, when constructed of
metal or food, shall be protectea on the side of the usable
space as required for one-hour fire-resistive construction
Doors shall be self-closing, of men-combustible construction,
of solid wooa core not less than 1-3/4 inches in thicknesz
EXCEPTION Unless otherwise required in Part .i of this Cooe
- in Group R. Division I Apartment Occupancies meeting the
requirements of Section 3302 (a) Exception 2, the one-hour
fire-resistive enclosures for the us-ible soace under the
first story, shall not be required providea tnat inuividual
dwelling units are separated by nie-hOUr fire-resistant
construction Where vertical ore-hour fire-restistive
construction is requirec on the top story, the one-hour
fire-resistive wall srall terminate at the underside of the
roof sheathing "
