HomeMy WebLinkAbout105 - 08/16/1983 - DESIGNATING THE MCHUGH-ANDREWS HOUSE, 202 REMINGTON, AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK f ORDINANCE NO. 105 1983 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS DESIGNATING PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 69 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS WHEREAS, on July 6 , 1983, the Cultural Resources Board of the City of Fort Collins held a public hearing concerning the proposed local Historic Landmark designation of the McHugh-Andrews House (202 Remington) within the City of Fort Collins; and WHEREAS, pursuant to said public hearing, the Cultural Resources Board affirmatively recommended to the City Council of the City of Fort Collins that the McHugh-Andrews House (202 Remington) be designated as a Historic Landmark pursuant to Chapter 69 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins; and WHEREAS, such Landmark would be designated for the following purposes: 1. To encourage public knowledge and appreciation of the archi- tectural heritage that contributed to the history of Fort Collins and its surroundings. The house represents the work of a noteworthy architect, Montezuma Fuller. 2. To encourage public knowledge and appreciation of the his- torical significance of the structure. The house was owned by Charles B. Andrews, a prominent local early businessman, and Dr. Peter J. McHugh and Jesse Harris, both former Fort Collins mayors. 3. To promote the public welfare by strengthening the cultural and educational life of the City. 4. To prevent misguided improvements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That that certain property more particularly described as follows: Block 132 , West Eighty-Five feet (85' ) of Lot 9 (SE 1/4 of SW 1/4 of NW 1/4 . of SW 1/4 of Section 12 , 17N , R69W) , City of Fort Collins, County of Larimer, State of Colorado. be, and it hereby is, designated as a Historic Landmark pursuant to Chapter 69 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins. Section 2. That said property shall be known as the McHugh-Andrews House. Section 3. That this designation shall " take effect at such time as a certified copy of this Ordinance has been recorded in the Office of the Clerk and Recorder of Larimer County.
