HomeMy WebLinkAbout015 - 02/21/1984 - ESTABLISHING A QUALITY OF LIFE COMMISSION ORDINANCE NO. 15 , 1984 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ESTABLISHING A QUALITY OF LIFE COMMISSION WHEREAS, the City Council desires increased citizen input in setting goals and policies for Fort Collins; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to assess community opinion regard- ing City services and policies; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to create a Quality of Life Commis- sion and set forth the composition and responsibilities of such a commis- sion. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that: Section 1 . A citizens committee designated as the Quality of Life Commission, is hereby created, for the following purposes: a. To review data gathered from the annual Fort Collins Quality of Life Survey; b. To disseminate information gathered from the annual Fort Collins Quality of Life Survey for public review and discus- sion; c. To promote citizen participation in the Quality of Life process; d. To assess the importance of survey results with regard to community goals, objectives, and policies; and e. To interact with public and quasi-public entities in the com- munity. Section 2. The Commission shall be composed of nine (9) members, appointed by the City Council to serve without monetary compensation. Members of such Commission shall serve for four (4) years or until their successors are appointed and the initial appointments to such Commission shall specify the term of office of each individual in order to achieve overlapping tenure. All members shall be subject to removal by the Coun- cil . In the event a vacancy occurs on such, the same shall be filled by the City Council for the remaining unexpired portion of the term. • Section 3. The Commission shall elect annually from the membership a chairperson and such other officers as it may require, whose duties shall be such as may be prescribed by the bylaws to be adopted by Commission, which bylaws shall not be inconsistent with the Charter and ordinances of the City of Fort Collins. A copy of bylaws shall be filed with the City Clerk for the use of the City Council immediately after adoption by the Board, and the same shall be subject to the approval of the City Council .
