HomeMy WebLinkAbout134 - 10/18/1983 - AMENDING CHAPTER 112 OF THE CITY CODE RELATING TO RATES FOR THE WATER AND SEWER UTILITY • I ORDINANCE NO. 134 , 1983 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 112 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS RELATING TO RATES FOR THE WATER AND SEWER UTILITY BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 . That Section 112-77B(1) of the Code of the City of Fort Collins be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows: B. Schedule B (charges and fees) . (1) The rate for each category shall be: Category Class of Customer Rate A Single-family residential user (either flat rate or metered water use) $10.41 per month B Duplex (two-family) resi- dential user (either flat rate or metered water use) $16.95 per month C Multiple-family residential user (more than 2 living units) $0.92 per 1,000 gallons of winter water use, with a minimum charge of $3 .86 per month per living unit served D Minor non-residential $0.92 per 1,000 gallons of water use, with a minimum charge as follows: Size of Monthly Water Meter Minimum (inches) Charge 3/4 or smaller $ 3.86 1 $ 5.12 1-1/2 $ 8.98 2 $ 15 .41 3 $ 32.10 4 $ 51.38 6 $115.65 _r E Intermediate Non-residential $0.92 per 1,000 and gallons of water F Major non-residential use or measured sewage flow, which- ever is applicable; and $0.534 per million gallons for each mg/l of suspended solids in excess of 250 mg/l ; plus a surcharge of $0.429 per million gallons for each mg/l of BOD in excess of 200/mg/l or a surcharge of $0.286 per million gallons for each mg/l of COD in excess of 300 mg/l , whichever is appli- cable. A minimum charge would also be made, if applicable, as follows: Size of Monthly Water Meter Minimum ( inches) Charge 3/4 or smaller $ 3.86 1 $ 5.12 1-1/2 $ 8.98 2 $ 15.41 3 $ 32.10 4 $ 51.38 6 $115.65 G Users outside city limits The rate shall be 1-1/2 user (more than 2 living times that of similar units) users inside the city limits H Special The rate shall be negotiated I The above charges are not applicable during the original construction period of the building or structure to be served. At the time a certificate of occupancy is issued for the building or structure, the above charges will begin to be assessed." -2- J Section 2. That Section 112-77C(1) of. the Code of the City of Fort Collins be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows: C. Schedule C ( surcharge) . (1) Charges. Excess Over Rate per Parameter (mg/1 ) 1 ,000 Gallons BOD 200 $0.000429 COD 300 0.000286 TSS 250 0.000534 Section 3 . That Section 112-52 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows: "112-52. Flat rates for unmetered water use. The following flat rates shall be charged on a monthly basis for the use of water from the water utility when the use is not metered: A. For each family living unit, eight dollars and fourteen cents ($8.14) . B. For each lot having an area between six thousand (6,000) and nine thousand (9,000) square feet, an additional seven dollars ($7.00) . C. For each lot having an area over nine thousand (9 ,000) square feet, an additional fourteen cents ($0.14) per one hundred (100) square feet in excess of nine thousand (9,000) square feet. D. For each lot having an area under six thousand (6,000) square feet, a deduction of fourteen cents ($0.14) per one hundred (100) square feet under six thousand (6,000) square feet. E. The rate to be charged for such flat rate use shall be the sum of the amounts determined pursuant to the applicable portions of Subsections A through D above, except that no flat rate user shall be charged less than the monthly minimum charge per family living unit, which minimum shall be nine dollars and forty-five cents ($9.45) ." Section 4. That Section 112-55 A of the Code of the City of Fort Collins be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows: -3- "112-55. Meter rate schedules. A. Schedule A: inside City Metered Rates. 1 . Minimum charge. The monthly minimum charge for all metered users ahll be as follows: (a) Residential customers: eight dollars and fourteen cents ($8 .14) for the first dwelling unit and four dollars and ninety cents ($4 .90) for each additional dwelling unit. (b) Non-residential customers: Meter Size Monthly (inches) Minimum Charges 3/4 $ 8.14 1 $ 13.64 1-1/2 $ 27 .31 2 $ 43.77 3 $ 82.11 4 $136 .80 6 $273.54 8 $437 .67 2. The minimum charge determined pursuant to Subsection A ( 1 ) above will entitle any non-residential user to two thousand ( 2 ,000 ) gallons of water per month without additional charge and will entitle any residen- tial customer to two thousand (2,000) gallons of water per month times the number of dwelling units served. The charge to be made for all water taken through the meter after the allowance for the minimum charge shall be charged for at the rate of sixty-seven cents ($0.67) per one thousand (1 ,000) gallons." Section 5. The amendments recited herein shall become effective on all billings rendered on or after January 1, 1984, relating to services provided during the month of December, 1983, and thereafter. Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered pub- lished this 4th day of October, A.D. 1983, and to be presented for final passage on the 18th day of October, A.D. 1983.
