HomeMy WebLinkAbout155 - 12/19/1989 - AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXTEND A CONTRACT FOR SERVICES FROM 2 YEARS TO 2.5 YEARS ORDINANCE NO. 155, 1989 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXTEND A CONTRACT FOR SERVICES FROM 2 YEARS TO 2-1/2 YEARS WHEREAS, the contract for maintenance of the City's Northern Telecom PBX and associated telephone systems was awarded to Northern Telecom for a two-year term beginning January 1, 1988; and WHEREAS, there have been 2 changes in the corporate ownership of Northern Telecom since January, 1988; and WHEREAS, at present the successor to Northern Telecom is U.S. West; and WHEREAS, the Purchasing Agent and the Information and Communication Systems Department have determined that extension of the current contract for a period of six months is the most effective method for providing continuity of service for the City while administering the selection process to choose a future contractor in the City's best interest; and WHEREAS, funds have been budgeted and appropriated in the Information and Communication Systems Department for 1990 for the above-described services; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Article V, Section 31 of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins, no contract for services shall be for a period longer than two (2) years unless authorized by Ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, that the Purchasing Agent be and hereby is authorized to enter into an extension of the telephone maintenance contract which will result in a total term of two and one half (2-1/2) years. Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered published this 5th day of December, A.D. 1989, and to be presented for final passage on the 19th day of December, A. 1989.
