HomeMy WebLinkAbout059 - 06/04/1991 - AMENDING CITY CODE PERTAINING TO THE FORT COLLINS HOUSING AUTHORITY ORDINANCE NO. 59, 1991 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS PERTAINING TO THE FORT COLLINS HOUSING AUTHORITY WHEREAS, the Fort Collins Housing Authority ("the Authority") presently consists of five commissioners appointed by the Council , as provided in Section 29-4-205, C.R.S. ; and WHEREAS, the Council has historically appointed two additional members of the community to serve as informal advisors to the Authority; and WHEREAS, the appointment of such community advisors, while not expressly provided by state statute, is not prohibited by statute; and WHEREAS, the practice of making such additional appointments has benefitted the Authority and the citizens of the City by providing a pool of qualified applicants for the appointment of future commissioners; and WHEREAS, the Council also considers it desirable and in the best interests of the City to limit the terms of the commissioners of the Authority to no more than two (2) full consecutive terms, to be consistent with the term limitation policy for City boards and commissions which was adopted by Council through the passage of Resolution 81-85. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that Section 2-247 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 2-247. Membership; term (a) The authority shall consist of five (5) commissioners appointed as set forth in C.R.S. 29-4-205. In addition to the appointment of such commissioners, the City Council may also appoint two (2) additional community representatives to the Authority who shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Authority and who may make recommendations to the commissioners regarding the projects and activities of the Authority. (b) Each commissioner shall serve a term of five (5) years and each community advisor shall serve a term of two (2) years. No commissioner or community advisor shall serve more than two (2) full , consecutive terms.
