OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
BEING AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING PRIOR YEAR RESERVES
IN THE GENERAL FUND
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 8 of the Charter of the City of Fort
Collins permits the Council to appropriate prior year reserves at any time
such reserves are available; and
WHEREAS, the City has enacted, pursuant to Ordinance No. 20, 1984, a
lodging tax to be used by the City for the purpose of acquiring facilities
and promoting tourism, conventions and other activities which utilize
public accommodations within the City and for the purpose of studying and
reducing the impact of such activities upon the facilities and
infrastructure of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Council has recommended an initial year allocation of
accrued lodging tax funds; and
WHEREAS, the Council has recommended after the initial year allocation
of accrued lodging tax funds, that funds be allocated 70% for the promotion
of convention and visitor activities; 20% for cultural development and
programming activities; and 10% for maintenance, mitigation and improvement
expenses; and
WHEREAS, lodging tax collections from 1984 through 1986 in the amount
of $301,491 are available in General Fund prior year reserves.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that there is hereby appropriated for expenditure from prior year
reserves in the General Fund the total sum of THREE HUNDRED ONE THOUSAND
FOUR HUNDRED NINETY ONE DOLLARS ($301,491) for the newly created Convention
and Tourism Program as follows:
1 . $153, 160 for the Convention and Visitors' Bureau contract for
services;
2. $30,000 for Cultural Development and Programming; and
3. $118,331 for Maintenance, Mitigation and Improvement expenses.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered
published this 3rd day of February A.D. 1987, and to be presented for final
passage on the 17th day of February, A.D. 1987.
