OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF THE
CITY OF FORT COLLINS RELATING TO THE
MEMBERSHIP OF THE COMMISSION ON
THE STATUS OF WOMEN
WHEREAS, the Commission on the Status of Women (the "Commission") was
established in 1986 and comprised of 7 members plus 2 alternates; and
WHEREAS, on January 16, 1987, the Commission requested that the
membership be increased from 7 members plus 2 alternates to 11 members plus
2 alternates; and
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 27, 1987, which
expanded the Commission's membership to 11 members plus 2 alternates and
provided that the Commission would return to its original composition of 7
members plus 2 alternates on July 1, 1990; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 27, 1987 also provided that the Council may
consider a request by the Commission that the increased size be extended
beyond July 1, 1990; and
WHEREAS, the Commission has submitted a request that the membership of
the Commission remain at 11 members plus 2 alternates; and
WHEREAS, the Council liaison to the Commission recommends that the
membership of the Commission be increased to 13 regular members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1 . That Section 2-182(a) of the Code of the City of Fort
Collins be amended to read as follows:
Sec. 2-182. Membership; term.
(a) The commission shall consist of thirteen (13) regular
members appointed by the City Council . Appointments shall
specify the term of office of each individual in order to achieve
overlapping tenure.
Section 2. That the terms of office of existing members of the
Commission shall subsequently be adjusted by the Council by resolution in
order to achieve overlapping tenure.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered
published this 13th day of March, A.D. 1990, and to be presented for final
passage on the 3rd day of April , A.D. 1990.
