OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE IN THE GENERAL FUND
FOR THE LOCAL ACTION PLAN DEVELOPMENT FOR THE
CITIES FOR CLIMATE PROTECTION CAMPAIGN
WHEREAS,pursuant to Resolution 97-97, Fort Collins became a participant in the Cities
for Climate Protection Campaign; and
WHEREAS,participation in the Cities for Climate Protection Campaign involves conducting
an audit of current greenhouse gas emissions in the city, setting a greenhouse gas reduction target,
and developing a Local Action Plan for meeting that target; and
WHEREAS, in August, 1998, the City was awarded a grant in the amount of$18,350 from
the nonprofit International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives(ICLEI)to develop the Local
Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, one half of the grant funds ($9,175) were received and appropriated in 1998,
with the remaining $9,175 to be received following completion of the project; and
WHEREAS, Natural Resources submitted a final project report to ICLEI on November 4,
1999 and the remaining funds will be received by the City in 1999; and
WHEREAS,Article V, Section 9, of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins permits the City
Council to make supplemental appropriations by ordinance at any time during the fiscal year,
provided that the total amount of such supplemental appropriations,in combination with all previous
appropriations for that fiscal year,does not exceed the then current estimate of actual and anticipated
revenues to be received during the fiscal year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that there is hereby appropriated from unanticipated revenue in the General Fund the sum
of NINE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS ($9,175) for expenditure,
upon receipt, in the General Fund for the development of the Local Action Plan for reducing
greenhouse gas emissions.
Introduced and considered favorably on first reading and ordered published this 16th day of
November,A.D. 1999,and to be presented for final passage on the 7th day of December,A.D. 1999.
