HomeMy WebLinkAbout031 - 03/15/2005 - AMENDING VARIOUS SECTIONS OF THE FORT COLLINS TRAFFIC CODE ORDINANCE NO. 031, 2005 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING VARIOUS SECTIONS OF THE FORT COLLINS TRAFFIC CODE WHEREAS,on February 18,2003,by Ordinance No. 016,2003,the Council of the City of Fort Collins adopted the Fort Collins Traffic Code (the "Traffic Code"); and WHEREAS,at the time of the adoption of the Traffic Code,it was the understanding of staff and Council that the Traffic Code would most likely be subject to future amendments,not only for the purpose of clarification and correction of errors, but also for the purpose of ensuring that the Traffic Code remains consistent with State traffic laws; and WHEREAS, the proposed amendments primarily concern relocating certain provisions to more logical sections of the Code and providing a definition consistent with state law; and WHEREAS,the Council has determined that the Traffic Code amendments which have been proposed are in the best interest of the City and its citizens. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That the Fort Collins Traffic Code is hereby amended by moving Section 614 entitled 'Designation of highway maintenance, repair or construction zone signs - increase in penalties for speeding violations" and Section 615 entitled"School zones- increase in penalties for speeding violation" which are contained in Part 6, to Part 11 of the Traffic Code, to be numbered as new Sections 1107 and 1108,respectively,with all subsequent sections contained in Part 6 to be renumbered accordingly. Section 2. That the Fort Collins Traffic Code is hereby amended by moving Section 1505 entitled "Funeral processions" which is contained in Part 15, to Part 14 of the Traffic Code, to be numbered as a new Section 1416. Section 3. That a new definition entitled"Street rod vehicle"is hereby added to Section 2002 of the Fort Collins Traffic Code as subsection (34) to read in its entirety as follows, with all subsequent subsections to be renumbered accordingly: (34) Street rod vehicle. A vehicle manufactured in 1948 or earlier with a body design which has been modified for safe road use, including,but not limited to, modifications to the drive train, suspension, and brake systems, modifications to the body through the use of materials such as steel or fiberglass, and any other safety or comfort features.
