OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING SECTION 2-671 OF THE CITY CODE PERTAINING TO
THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE
OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
WHEREAS,Subsection(a)(6)a.of Section 2-671 of the City Code provides that the director
of the Office of Emergency Management is empowered to make and issue rules and regulations on
matters reasonably related to the protection of life,health, safety and property as affected by a local
emergency or a state of disaster emergency;provided that such rules and regulations are confirmed
at the earliest practical time by the City Council; and
WHEREAS,there is a need to establish the method by which such rules and regulations are
to be disseminated to the public, and to establish a penalty for the knowing violation of such rules
and regulations.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS, that Section 2-671 of the Code of the City is hereby amended by adding the following
subsection (e) to read as follows:
(e) Any rules and regulations made and issued by the director pursuant to the
authorization set forth in subsection (a)(6) of this Section shall be disseminated to
local radio and television stations and to a newspaper having a general circulation
within the city. A knowing violation of such rules and regulations shall be a
misdemeanor punishable under§ 1-15 of this Code.
