HomeMy WebLinkAbout177 - 11/18/1997 - AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE COLORADO STATE PATROL BUILDING AT ORDINANCE NO. 177, 1997 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE COLORADO STATE PATROL BUILDING AT 2412 EAST MULBERRY STREET ACQUIRED BY THE CITY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE TIMBERLINE ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins is the owner of a building formerly known as the Colorado State Patrol Building and located at 2412 East Mulberry Street(the"Improvements'); and WHEREAS, the City purchased the Improvements because of the Timberline Road Improvement Project; and WHEREAS, the Improvements need to moved from their current site or demolished; and WHEREAS, staff has determined that the City does not have an appropriate use for or need for the Improvements; and WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City avoid the cost of demolition, and possibly generate revenue for the project,by obtaining bids for the Improvements and requiring that the bids reflect that the cost associated with moving the Improvements will be home by the ultimate purchaser; and WHEREAS, Section 23-111 of the City Code requires that the Council authorize the sale, conveyance or other disposition of any and all interests in real property owned in the name of the City and first find,by ordinance,that such sale or other disposition is in the best interests of the City. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That the City Council hereby finds that the sale of the Improvements is in the best interests of the City. Section 2. That the City Manager be, and hereby is, authorized to execute such documents of conveyance as are necessary for the City to sell the Improvements to the highest responsible bidder,provided that the bids received reflect that the costs associated with moving the Improvements will be borne by the ultimate purchaser.
