ORDINANCE NO. 187, 1997
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE IN THE GENERAL FUND
FOR POLICE SERVICES AND AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER
OF APPROPRIATED AMOUNTS BETWEEN ACCOUNTS AND PROJECTS
WHEREAS,Fort Collins Police Services has been awarded a grant of federal money in the
amount of$209,846 through the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice; and
WHEREAS, this grant is to be used by Fort Collins Police Services for the Multi-
jurisdictional Grant Project, the purpose of which is to fund investigations of illegal narcotics
activities in Larimer County; and
WHEREAS,this grant requires$100,424 of City matching funds, which have been included
in the 1997 Police Services budget for this purpose and are available for transfer to the Multi-
jurisdictional Grant Project; and
WHEREAS, the City will also receive $15,000 from the Larimer County Sheriff's
Department and $15,000 from the Loveland Police Department for a total amount of$30,000 to
complete the funding of a Fort Collins Police lieutenant to manage the grant project; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 9,of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins permits the City
Council to make supplemental appropriations by ordinance at any time during the fiscal year,
provided that the total amount of such supplemental appropriations,in combination with all previous
appropriations for that fiscal year,do not exceed the then current estimate of actual and anticipated
revenues to be received during the fiscal year; and
WHEREAS,Article V, Section 10,of the Charter authorizes the City Council to transfer by
ordinance any unexpended and unencumbered amount of portion thereof from one fund or project
to another fund or project, provided that the purpose for which the transferred funds are to be
expended remains unchanged; and
WHEREAS, City staff has determined that the appropriation of the unanticipated grant
revenue from the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice referenced herein will not cause total
appropriations to exceed the current estimate of actual and anticipated revenues for fiscal year 1997.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That there is hereby appropriated from unanticipated grant revenue in the
General Fund the sum of TWO HUNDRED NINE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED FORTY-SIX
DOLLARS($209,846)for expenditure,upon receipt,in the General Fund for Police Services for the
Multi jurisdictional Grant Project.
Section 2. That there is hereby appropriated from unanticipated revenue in the General
Fund the sum of THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($30,000)for expenditure,upon receipt, in the
General Fund for Police Services for the Multi jurisdictional Grant Project.
Section 3. That the unexpended appropriated amount of ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND
FOUR HUNDRED TWENTY-FOUR($100,424)is authorized for transfer from the Police Services
operating budget in the General Fund to the Multi jurisdictional Grant Project.
