HomeMy WebLinkAbout058 - 06/04/1985 - AMENDING THE CITY CODE RELATING TO THE MODEL TRAFFIC CODE FOR COLORADO MUNICIPALITIES, 1977 EDITION ORDINANCE NO. 58 , 1985 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING SECTION 114-2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS RELATING TO THE "MODEL TRAFFIC CODE FOR COLORADO MUNICIPALITIES", 1977 EDITION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS: Section 114-2 (Amendments ) of the Code of the City of Fort Collins is hereby amended as follows: Section 1. Section 114-2A is amended to set out the following additional amendments to the provisions of Model Traffic Code, in numerical sequence with previous amendments : Section 10-2, Obedience to angle-parking signs or markings, is repealed and readopted as follows: Section 10-2. Obedience to angle-parking signs or markings. On those streets which have been approved and signed or marked for angle parking, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle other than at the angle to the curb or edge of the roadway indicated by such signs or markings WITH THE VEHICLE 'S RIGHT FRONT WHEEL ADJACENT TO THE RIGHT-HAND CURB OR EDGE OF THE ROADWAY, EXCEPT THAT ON A ONE-WAY ROADWAY WHICH HAS BEEN APPROVED AND SIGNED OR MARKED FOR ANGLE PARKING ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE OF THE ROADWAY, A VEHICLE MAY BE PARKED WITH ITS LEFT FRONT WHEEL ADJACENT TO THE LEFT-HAND CURB OR EDGE OF THE ROADWAY. Section 11-1. Stopping, standing or parking prohibited in specified places, is repealed and readopted as follows: Section 11-1. Stopping, standing or parking prohibited in specified places. (a) No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with directions of a police officer or official traffic control device, in any of the following places: (1) On a sidewalk ; (2) Within an intersection; (3) On a crosswalk ; (4) Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within thirty feet of points on the curb immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone, unless the traffic authority indicates a different length by signs or markings; (5) Alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when stopping, standing or parking would obstruct traffic; (6) On the roadway side of any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge or curb of a street ; (7) Upon any bridge or other elevated structure upon a highway or within a highway tunnel ; l • (8) On any railroad tracks ; (9) On any controlled-access highway; (10) In the area between roadways of a divided highway, including crossovers ; (11) At any other place where official signs OR MARKINGS prohibit stopping. (b) In addition to the restrictions specified in subsection (a) of this section, no person shall stand or park a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or official traffic control device, in any of the following places : (1) Within five feet of a public or private driveway; (2) Within fifteen feet of a fire hydrant ; (3) Within twenty feet of a crosswalk at an intersection; (4) Within thirty feet upon the approach to any flashing beacon or signal , stop sign, yield sign, or traffic control signal located at the side of a roadway; (5) Within twenty feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station or, on the side of a street opposite the entrance to any fire station, within seventy-five feet of said entrance when properly signposted ; (6) At any other place where official signs OR MARKINGS prohibit standing. (c) In addition to the restrictions specified in subsections (a) and (b) of this section, no person shall park a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or official traffic control device, in any of the following places : (1) Within fifty feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing; (2) At any other place where official signs OR MARKINGS prohibit parking. Section 12-2, Obedience to stopping, standing or parking regulations, subsection (b) is repealed and readopted as follows : (b) No person shall park or direct another person to park a vehicle in a block face OR A PUBLIC PARKING LOT for a period in excess of a time restriction established for parking in the block face OR PUBLIC PARKING LOT, regardless of the movement of the vehicle from various parking locations in the block face OR PUBLIC PARKING LOT.
