OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING SECTION 28-17 OF THE CODE OF TILE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
RELATING TO BICYCLISTS RIDING ON BICYCLE LANES UNDER THE
"MODEL TRAFFIC CODE FOR COLORADO MUNICIPALITIES" 1977 EDITION
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that Sections 17-13(d) of subparagraph (14) of Section 28-17 of the Code of the City of
Fort Collins is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 17-13. Riding on roadways and bicycle patlis.
"(d) Whenever it bicycle lane has been established on a roadway, bicycle riders
shall use such laces and shall not use the roadway, except under any of the following
situations and in compliance with section 8-2(1) of this:
(1) When overtaking and passing another bicycle proceeding in the same
direction;
(2) When preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road
or driveway or when entering or leaving the roadway; or
(3) When reasonably necessary to avoid hazardous conditions including,
but not limited to, fixed or moving objects, parked or moving
vehicles, pedestrians, animals or surface hazards.
