HomeMy WebLinkAbout136 - 08/18/1998 - ADOPTING THE 1998-1999 CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES PAY AND CLASSIFICATION PLAN ORDINANCE NO. 136, 1998 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ADOPTING THE 1998-1999 CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES PAY AND CLASSIFICATION PLAN WHEREAS,each year the City of Fort Collins adopts a financial policy which guides the development of the salary and benefit rates received by classified City employees; and WHEREAS, Section 2-566 of the City Code requires that the salaries of all classified employees of the city shall be fixed by ordinance of the City Council; and WHEREAS,the City of Fort Collins is committed to compensating employees in a manner which is fair, competitive and understandable; and WHEREAS,the City of Fort Collins has completed an organization-wide compensation and classification study which grouped positions requiring similar skills, and similar functions into specific position classifications; and WHEREAS, the Compensation and Classification Study includes public and private employer survey information for Northern Colorado and the Front Range,providing clear benchmark information for nearly one in four positions; and WHEREAS, staff believes that the stated City Council objectives for the development of a new compensation and classification plan have been met; and WHEREAS, the City Council Finance Committee has reviewed the Classified Employees Compensation and Classification Plan on July 16, 1998, and has recommended adoption by the Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That the Council hereby adopts the 1998-1999 City of Fort Collins Pay and Classification Plan(the"Plan"),a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit"A"and incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. That the effective date of the Plan shall commence with the September 7, 1998 pay period. Section 3. That the City Manager may modify the Plan by making pay equity adjustments within the established pay levels of the pay Plan, providing that the total cost of employee compensation does not exceed the budget as adopted by City Council.
