OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING CHAPTER 1 OF THE"DESIGN CRITERIA AND STANDARDS FOR
STREETS" DATED JULY, 1986,PERTAINING TO PEDESTRIAN RAMP CRITERIA
WHEREAS,Chapter 24 of the City Code contains certain provisions pertaining to the design,
construction,and maintenance of streets and sidewalks within the City and incorporates by reference
certain design and construction specifications which may be adopted by the City Council by
resolution; and
WHEREAS,on July 15, 1986,the City Council adopted Resolution 86-116 approving certain
"Design Criteria and Standards for Streets," dated July, 1986 ("Street Design Standards"); and
WHEREAS,the City Council believes it to be in the best interests of the City to modify the
design standards and criteria for pedestrian ramps in the City in order to comply with the
requirements of the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1992; and
WHEREAS, in order to accommodate such changes, certain amendments are necessary to
the Street Design Standards.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That Chapter 1 of the Street Design Standards is hereby amended to
incorporate the additional specifications contained in the "Pedestrian Ramp Design and Technical
Criteria" dated April, 1996, a copy of which is on file with the Office of the City Clerk, which
specifications will be added to the Street Design Standards.
Section 2. That the amendments contained in Section 1 above shall apply to all
applications for subdivisions,planned unit developments, site plan reviews, and design reviews of
permitted uses that are submitted to the City on or after May 7, 1996.
