OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING SECTION 2-670 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
TO SHIFT EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT FROM
OFFICE OF POLICE SERVICES TO POUDRE FIRE AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, since 1987 the coordination of emergency management planning for the City
has been the responsibility of the department of Police Services; and
WHEREAS, the Poudre Fire Authority is a primary responder to a wide variety of
emergencies in the community and has a high level of training and expertise in dealing with large
scale emergencies; and
WHEREAS, Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City
that the Department of Police Services be replaced by the Poudre Fire Authority as the agency
responsible for the operation of the Office of Emergency Management and for the provision of
administrative support necessary for said office to carry out its duties.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that Section 2-670 be amended to read as follows:
Sec. 2-670 Office of Emergency Management.
There is hereby created the Office of Emergency Management. The City Manager
shall be the director of the Office of Emergency Management. The Emergency
Management Coordinator shall be the assistant director. The Office of Emergency
Management shall be located within the Poudre Fire Authority, and the Poudre Fire
Authority shall provide the administrative support necessary for the office to carry
out its duties.
