HomeMy WebLinkAbout075 - 07/18/2000 - APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED GRANT REVENUE IN THE GENERAL FUND FOR PREPARATION OF A CHEMICAL, BIOLOGI ORDINANCE NO. 75, 2000 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED GRANT REVENUE IN THE GENERAL FUND FOR PREPARATION OF A CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL AND RADIOLOGICAL RESPONSE PLAN WHEREAS, City staff recognizes that the threat from a weapons of mass destruction event is very possible and has worked diligently to try to identify potential hazards; and WHEREAS, one of the major problems identified is the lack of a planning template from which to begin; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins has been awarded a grant in the amount of$144,617 from the Colorado Office of Emergency Management through the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and WHEREAS,the funds have been granted to selected cities across the country to improve the ability of local communities to respond to and recover from acts of terrorism involving weapons of mass destruction; and WHEREAS,the grant will cover personnel costs associated with authoring the plan,training, development,seminars,site visits,materials,supplies,and a weapons of mass destruction command development plan for state-wide distribution; and WHEREAS,Article V, Section 9,of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins permits the City Council to make supplemental appropriations by ordinance at any time during the fiscal year, provided that the total amount of such supplemental appropriations,in combination with all previous appropriations for that fiscal year,does not exceed the then current estimate of actual and anticipated revenues to be received during the fiscal year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that there is hereby appropriated from unanticipated revenue in the General Fund the sum of ONE HUNDRED FORTY FOUR THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED SEVENTEEN DOLLARS ($144,617) for expenditure in the General Fund for the preparation of a Chemical, Biological and Radiological Response Plan. Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered published this 24th day of June, A.D. 2000, and to be considered for final passage on the 18th day of July, A.D. 2000. -d.
