OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE
IN THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE COMMUNITY MEDIATION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins has received a grant from the Colorado Department
of Local Affairs through the Community Partnership Office for $43,924 to operate a Community
Mediation Program for one year; and
WHEREAS, the Community Mediation Program is designed to assist residents in resolving
disputes in a healthy, violence-free manner with the help of trained mediators; and
WHEREAS, the Community Mediation Program is coordinated by a Community Mediation
Program Coordinator who is responsible for developing a corps of trained volunteer mediators;
and
WHEREAS, there are currently over 25 community members who have volunteered their
services as mediators; and
WHEREAS, the grant will cover the salary and benefits of the Program Coordinator as
well as some operating expenses; and
WHEREAS, the City will provide its required 25% match through in-kind support such
as equipment, office expenses and space, which are already included in the regular operations of
the Neighborhood Resources Office; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 9, of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins permits the
City Council to make supplemental appropriations by ordinance at any time during the fiscal year,
provided that the total amount of such supplemental appropriations, in combination with all
previous appropriations for that fiscal year, do not exceed the then current estimate of actual and
anticipated revenues to be received during the fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, City staff has determined that the appropriation of the unanticipated grant
revenue from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs referenced herein will not cause total
appropriations to exceed the current estimate of actual and anticipated revenues for fiscal year
1997.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that there is hereby appropriated from unanticipated grant revenue in the General Fund
the sum of FORTY-THREE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED TWENTY-FOUR DOLLARS
($43,924) for expenditure upon receipt in the General Fund for the Community Mediation
Program.
