HomeMy WebLinkAbout094 - 09/15/1992 - DESIGNATING 112 SOUTH COLLEGE AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK ORDINANCE NO. 94 , 1992 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS DESIGNATING 112 SOUTH COLLEGE AVENUE AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 14 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 14-2 of the City Code, the City Council has established a public policy encouraging the protection, enhancement and perpetuation of historic landmarks within the City; and WHEREAS, by Resolution dated August 5, 1992, the Landmarks Preservation Commission ("Commission") has determined that the structure at 112 South College Avenue (known as the old Auto Parts Store) has historical and geographic importance to the City in that it represents early commercial development in the community; and WHEREAS, the Commission has further determined that said structure meets the criteria of a landmark as set forth in Section 14-5 of the Code and is eligible for designation as a local landmark, and has recommended to the City Council that said structure be designated by the City Council as a local landmark; and WHEREAS, the owner of the property has consented to such landmark designation; and WHEREAS, such landmark designation will preserve the property's significance to the community; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the recommendation of the Commission and desires to approve such recommendation and designate said property as a historic landmark. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1 . That the structure located on lands in the City of Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado, described as follows, to wit: The South 20 feet of the West 40 feet of Lot 10, in Block 121 and the South 21 feet 1 1/2 inches of the East 35 feet of the West 75 feet of said Lot 10 in said Block 121, and also commencing at the NW corner of Lot 11 in said Block 121, and thence East 75 feet, thence South 6 inches, thence West 75 feet, thence North 6 inches to the Point of Beginning, City of Fort Collins, County of Larimer, State of Colorado, be, and hereby is, designated as a historic landmark pursuant to Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins. Section 2. That the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings (U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Revised 1983) shall serve as the standards by which alterations, additions and other changes to the structure located upon the above described property shall be reviewed for compliance with Chapter 14, Article III, of the Code of the City of Fort Collins. Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered published this 1st day of September, A.D. 1992, and to be presented for final passage on the 15th day of September, A.D. 1992.
