OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
REPEALING AND REENACTING THE LAND USE CODE
WHEREAS,on March 18, 1997, by Ordinance No. 51, 1997,the Council of the City of Fort
Collins adopted the Land Use Code; and
WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the Land Use Code, it was the understanding of
staff and Council that the Land Use Code would most likely be subject to future amendments, not
only for the purpose of clarification and correction of errors,but also for the purpose of ensuring that
the Land Use Code remains a"fluid"document capable of responding to issues identified by staff,
citizens of the City, and private professionals of sufficient importance to generate amendments to
the Land Use Code; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to its adoption, the Land Use Code has been amended in May and
July 1997; and
WHEREAS,the Council has established a Land Use Code Advisory Committee to identify
and explore issues which might generate a need to amend the Land Use Code, which potential
amendments were scheduled to be presented to the Council as a general review and amendment of
the Land Use Code for the Fall of 1997; and
WHEREAS,the Land Use Code Advisory Committee, the Planning and Zoning Board and
the Affordable Housing Board have reviewed the Land Use Code and identified and explored various
issues related to the Land Use Code and have made recommendations to the Council regarding such
issues; and
WHEREAS,the Council has determined that the Land Use Code amendments which have
been proposed by the staff,the Land Use Code Advisory Committee and the Planning and Zoning
Board are spread throughout the Land Use Code in such a manner that the Code, for purposes of
simplicity and contextual understanding, should be repealed and reenacted in its entirety.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Land Use Code be, and hereby is, repealed and reenacted so as to read as
provided in the"Land Use Code", dated December 12, 1997, a copy of which is on file in the Office
of the City Clerk.
