OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE IN THE GENERAL FUND
FOR POLICE SERVICES AND AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER
OF APPROPRIATED AMOUNTS BETWEEN ACCOUNTS AND PROJECTS
WHEREAS, the Larimer County Sheriff's Department was awarded a grant from the
Colorado Department of Transportation ("CDOT") to help reduce the number of drunk drivers in
Larimer County; and
WHEREAS, as part of the Larimer County grant the City will receive $34,320 from CDOT
to be used to support the Police Services Drunk Driving Enforcement Project; and
WHEREAS,this grant requires$120,932 of City matching funds,which have been included
in the 1998 Police Services budget for this purpose and are available for transfer to the Police
Services Drunk Driving Enforcement Project; and
WHEREAS,Article V, Section 9,of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins permits the City
Council to make supplemental appropriations by ordinance at any time during the fiscal year,
provided that the total amount of such supplemental appropriations,in combination with all previous
appropriations for that fiscal year,do not exceed the then current estimate of actual and anticipated
revenues to be received during the fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, City staff has determined that the appropriation of the unanticipated revenue
from CDOT referenced herein will not cause total appropriations to exceed the current estimate of
actual and anticipated revenues for fiscal year 1998; and
WHEREAS,Article V, Section 10,of the Charter authorizes the City Council to transfer by
ordinance any unexpended and unencumbered amount or portion thereof from one fund or project
to another fund or project, provided that the purpose for which the transferred funds are to be
expended remains unchanged.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That there is hereby appropriated from unanticipated grant revenue in the General
Fund the sum of THIRTY-FOUR THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED TWENTY DOLLARS
($34,320)for expenditure,upon receipt,in the General Fund for the Police Services Drunk Driving
Enforcement Project.
Section 2. That the unexpended appropriated amount of ONE HUNDRED TWENTY
THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED THIRTY-TWO DOLLARS ($120,932)is authorized for transfer
from the Police Services operating budget in the General Fund to the Police Services Drunk Driving
Enforcement Project.
