OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING SECTION 2-28 OF THE CITY CODE PERTAINING TO
THE SCHEDULING OF REGULAR MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
WHEREAS,the City Council meets regularly to address numerous issues of importance to
the citizens of the City; and
WHEREAS,the increasing number and complexity of items presented to the City Council
for its consideration often require substantial public input, explanations by City staff and discussion
among Councilmembers; and
WHEREAS,the City Council wishes to adopt certain rules of procedure for conducting its
business at such meetings in order to maximize the efficiency with which such items are reviewed
and considered by the Council, while maintaining ample opportunity for public comment regarding
such items; and
WHEREAS,certain recommendations have been formulated by an ad hoc committee of the
Council, consisting of Councilmembers Chuck Wanner and Bill Bertschy, after consultation with
the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, among the recommendations submitted to the Council is the recommendation
that the time of the regular Council meetings be changed from 6:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., so as to allow
for the earlier adjournment of such meetings; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes it to be in the best interests of the City to adopt the
foregoing recommendations and to amend the City Code accordingly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS, that Section 2-28(a) of the City Code be, and hereby is, amended so as to read in its
entirety as follows:
Sec. 2-28. Regular meetings.
(a) Regular meetings of the City Council shall be held on the first and third
Tuesdays of each month. If such meeting date is a national holiday, the regular
meeting shall be on the preceding Monday. Such meeting shall commence at 6:00
p.m. The City Council may adjourn any regular meeting to a later date by majority
vote of its members.
