HomeMy WebLinkAbout058 - 04/15/1997 - APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE IN THE TRANSIT SERVICES FUND TO FUND A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE ORDINANCE NO. 58, 1997 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE IN THE TRANSIT SERVICES FUND TO FUND A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MULTI-MODAL TRANSPORTATION CENTER WHEREAS, concerns about air quality,traffic congestion and the problems associated with a rapidly growing population prompted Transportation Services staff to submit a grant application to the State of Colorado,Office of Energy Conservation(OEC)Transportation Partnerships program, for the purpose of funding a feasibility study for the development of a multi-modal transportation center; and WHEREAS, a multi-modal transportation center would incorporate all modes of travel to provide area residents with convenient and economical travel options, as an alternative to single occupant vehicles; and WHEREAS, several adopted City plans address the needs of alternative transportation options; and WHEREAS,the proposed feasibility study would take into consideration existing plans as well as the City Plan and Civic Center Plan; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the aforementioned feasibility study is $36,500; and WHEREAS, State of Colorado,Office of Energy Conservation,has awarded the City a grant for$30,000 to be used for a feasibility study for developing a multi-modal transportation center; and WHEREAS,local matching funds needed for the study,totaling$6,500,have been identified and are appropriated in the Transit Services Fund, 1997 budget; and WHEREAS, Article V, Section 14, of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins (the "Charter") authorizes the City Council to appropriate unanticipated revenues which are the result of new revenue sources at any time during the year in which such revenue is received; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council to appropriate the sum of$30,000 in State of Colorado, Office of Energy Conservation, funds to be used with existing appropriations in the Transit Services Fund for the purpose of funding a feasibility study for the development of a multi- modal transportation center. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that there is hereby appropriated for expenditure from unanticipated revenue in the Transit Services Fund, the sum of THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($30,000) from the State of Colorado, Office of Energy Conservation, to be used for a feasibility study for developing a multi- modal transportation center.
