HomeMy WebLinkAbout134 - 09/02/1997 - AMENDING THE DESIGNATION OF THE POUDRE GARAGE/U.S. FOREST SERVICE BUILDING AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK ORDINANCE NO. 134, 1997 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING THE DESIGNATION OF THE POUDRE GARAGE/U. S. FOREST SERVICE BUILDING, FORT COLLINS, COLORADO, AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 14 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 14-2 of the City Code, the City Council has established a public policy encouraging the protection,enhancement and perpetuation of historic landmarks within the City; and WHEREAS, Section 14-31 of the City Code provides for the amendment of designations; and WHEREAS,by Resolution dated August 12, 1997,the Landmark Preservation Commission ("Commission") has determined that the Poudre Garage/U. S. Forest Service Building, 148 Remington Street,Fort Collins,Colorado has importance to the City in that it represents architectural and historical significance; and WHEREAS,the Commission has recommended to the City Council that Ordinance No. 25, 1997,which originally designated said property as a local landmark,be amended by the City Council to reflect the accurate legal description; and WHEREAS, the owners of the property have consented to such amended landmark designation; and WHEREAS, such amended landmark designation will preserve the property's significance to the community; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the recommendation of the Commission and desires to approve such recommendation and amend the local landmark designation of said property. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 25, 1997, be and hereby is amended to read as follows: That the building, know as the Poudre Garage/U. S. Forest Service Building, located on lands in the City of Fort Collins,Larimer County, Colorado,described as follows, to wit: West 33.7 feet of the West half of Lots 19, 20, 21, and 22,Block 131, City of Fort Collins, County of Larimer, State of Colorado also know as 148 Remington Street be, and hereby is, designated as a historic landmark pursuant to Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins. Section 2. That except as amended hereby,Ordinance No.25, 1997 shall continue in full force and effect.
