HomeMy WebLinkAbout145 - 11/01/1988 - AMENDING CITY CODE TO ESTABLISH AN EX OFFICIO POSITION ON THE STORM DRAINAGE BOARD ORDINANCE NO. 145, 1988 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS TO ESTABLISH AN EX OFFICIO POSITION ON THE STORM DRAINAGE BOARD WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins and Larimer County coordinate and interact on a continuous basis in the area of stormwater management; and WHEREAS, Section 26-497 of the Code of the City states that the City will coordinate stormwater management matters with Larimer County; and WHEREAS, for the past eight years, a member of the County staff has been a member of the Storm Drainage Board; and WHEREAS, because of the limitations imposed by the City on the number of consecutive terms that a member may serve on a board or commission, this individual was required to leave the Board; and WHEREAS, on June 8th, 1988, the Storm Drainage Board voted unanimously to recommend the establishment of an ex officio member to serve as County liaison to the Storm Drainage Board; and WHEREAS, the Larimer County Board of Commissioners, on August 24, 1988, adopted a motion supporting the establishment of such liaison position to the Storm Drainage Board; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins has determined that it is in the best interests of the citizens of the city that the aforesaid modifications be made. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that Section 2-412 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins be, and hereby is, amended by the addition of a new Subparagraph (c) , to read as follows: (c) The county Board of Commissioners may appoint a representative of the County's Public Works department to serve as an ex officio member to act as liaison to the board, who shall represent the county in the city/county coordination of stormwater management matters. Such ex officio member shall not have voting privileges on matters coming before the board, and may be excluded from any closed session of the board. Said ex officio member shall serve for an indefinite duration; however, such appointment may be terminated by order of the City Council or the county Board of Commissioners, or upon resignation of the member.
