OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
ACCEPTING A DONATION AND APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED
REVENUE FROM AN ANONYMOUS DONOR FOR IMPROVING AND
EXPANDING LIBRARY SERVICES
WHEREAS, an anonymous donor has, through the Community Foundation serving
Northern Colorado, agreed to make a donation to the City and to the Poudre R-1
School District in the amount of $400,000 to be used for improving and expanding
library services for young people in the community; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to accept its share of the donation in the amount
of $195,000 and appropriate said funds for purposes consistent with the wishes
of the donor; and
WHEREAS, the City has agreed to use this generous donation to increase its
collection of materials that are of interest to young people; to add five drop
boxes at various sites in the City; to provide additional courier services for
these drop boxes; and to provide additional computer hardware and software and
other technology to improve library services for young people; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 14, of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins
permits the City Council to appropriate by ordinance unanticipated revenue which
is the result of- rate or fee increases or new revenue sources at any time during
the year in which such revenue is received.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the City hereby accepts the foregoing donation and, upon receipt thereof,
appropriates from unanticipated revenue in the General Fund the sum of ONE
HUNDRED NINETY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($195,000) for expenditure in the General
Fund for improving and expanding library services for young people in the Fort
Collins community.
