HomeMy WebLinkAbout024 - 03/01/1994 - AMENDING CITY CODE ADOPTING THE UNIFORM CODE FOR BUILDING CONSERVATION, 1991 EDITION ORDINANCE NO. 24, 1994 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING CHAPTER 5 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS RELATING TO THE CONTINUED USE, REUSE, CONSERVATION, ALTERATION AND REPAIR OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, BY ADOPTING CHAPTERS 1, 2, 3, 5 AND 6 AND APPENDIX CHAPTER 4 OF THE UNIFORM CODE FOR BUILDING CONSERVATION, 1991 EDITION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that Chapter 5 of the Code be amended by the addition of a new Article VIII entitled "Historic Buildings, " which is hereby enacted to read as follows: ARTICLE VIII. HISTORIC BUILDINGS Sec. 5-345. Purpose. The general purpose of this Article is to encourage the continued use, reuse, restoration, alteration, repair and general conservation of existing buildings and structures in the City of Fort Collins that are deemed to be of historical significance by the duly appointed authority of this city. Sec. 5-346. Adoption of standards. Pursuant to the power and authority conferred on the City Council by Section 31-16-202, C.R.S. , and Article II, Section 7, of the Charter, there is hereby adopted the Uniform Code for Building Conservation, 1991 Edition as published by the International Conference of Building Officials; including Appendix Chapter 4, Energy Conservation; which shall have the same force and effect as though set forth herein in full . The subject matter of the Uniform Code for Building Conservation adopted herein includes provisions and standards regulating the occupancy, repair and alteration of buildings and structures deemed to be of historical significance by the city. Sec. 5-347. Amendments and deletions to code. The Uniform Code for Building Conservation adopted in Section 5- 346 is hereby amended and changed in the following respects: (1) Chapter 4, Minimum Standards for Existing Buildings and Chapter 7, Requirements for Group R Occupancies, are hereby deleted. (2) Section 207 is amended to read as follows: "Sec. 207. In order to provide for final interpretation of the provisions of this Code and to hear appeals provided for hereunder, the Building Review Board, as created by Section 2-101 of the Code of the city, is hereby empowered to hear such matters under the procedures set forth in Section 5-27 of the Code of the city." (3) Section 310 is amended by adding a sentence to the definition of the term, "Historic Building," to read as follows: "For purposed of this code, this term shall also include buildings or structures listed in the National Register of Historic Places as published by the U.S. Department of the Interior."
